TransNexus' NexOSS Helps Prescient Tackle VoIP FraudBy Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor Prescient Worldwide, a reseller of telecommunications solutions, recently selected NexOSS from TransNexus (News - Alert), a developer of voice over IP (VoIP) network management software, to provide dynamic least cost routing and telecom fraud detection to complement its Oracle (News - Alert) Acme Packet based network. NexOSS is designed to save VoIP service providers time and money with intelligent routing solution. It automates the process of quickly building and optimizing a least cost routing table, which may have tens of millions of routes, more than enough to handle Prescient’s many carrier partners’ routes. The solution manages all the different pricings and complicated routing options, all while detecting and detering telecom fraud, the costs savings from which can be passed on to customers. “Our NexOSS Least Cost Routing is great, but what we haven’t seen anywhere else is the integrated fraud detection. The biggest benefit to NexOSS is the ability to monitor fraud in a real time fashion,” said Mike Pratt, CTO at Prescient. NexOSS eliminates the problem of ‘traffic pumping fraud’ as well. The solution’s smart monitoring features detect unusual spikes in call volume and temporarily block those routes, while allowing legitimate traffic through. “NexOSS detects fraud in real time, by analyzing number portability corrected LCR routing requests. This means that NexOSS can detect and re-route or block fraudulent calls before they are connected,” explained Pratt. With telecom fraud, unlike credit card fraud, it’s the service provider who ends up paying for the fraudulent calls coming from customers’ hacked systems, and Prescient had its hands full combating such fraud before NexOSS came into the picture. “NexOSS helped us tighten up our network and route calls more safely and efficiently. There’s no negative to the NexOSS platform.” Pratt said. “We’re very happy with our results.” Edited by Blaise McNamee |
