Skip2PBX Integrates PBX, VoIP, Skype in a Single ProductBy Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor Partnering with a U.S.-owned service that’s become synonymous with free online video communications, an Italian company is touting its software gateway as a way to integrate PBX, VoIP and Skype (News - Alert) calls in a single product.
Officials with Perugia, Italy-based Skip2PBX (News - Alert) say their product will allow companies to take advantage of Skype’s money-saving features through a traditional phone exchange by blending Skype software and SIP protocol.
“You can now have a unique integrated communication infrastructure that allows you to let your existing telephone exchange and landlines setup unaltered, while simultaneously taking advantage of Skype inexpensive fees,” Skip2PBX officials say on their Web site.
Created in 2005, Skip2PBX is a combination of two Italian companies – PC Service and IDEALIAGroup.
The company touts Skip2PBX as “the perfect solution” for companies seeking to reduce telephone, international dialing, and travel costs, and which are seeking to leverage emerging technologies. It isn’t clear how much the product costs. The company says on its Web site that it’s currently updating its catalogue.
Here’s how Skip2PBX officials say their gateway works.
After installing Skip2PBX, each of company phone will be able to call through Skype.
“You will only have to hook off the handset, digit preselection number (for example ‘0’), and Skip2PBX will automatically find the first free line of the company’s telephone exchange,” company officials say. “Skip2PBX can not only make calls, but also receive them directly to the telephone exchange. It will so be possible to have also in your company all of the advantages given by Skype, such as Skype to Skype free calls, SkypeOut service to call also traditional phones and SkypeIn to receive international phone calls at local rates.”
The service is launching at a critical time for businesses in the United States and abroad.
