LignUp and BorderWare Team Up for Enhanced VoIP Security

By Rahul Prabhakar, TMCnet Contributing Editor

With a view to meet the requirements of enterprises and service providers who focus on premium quality and secured solutions for their IP networks at reasonable rates, BorderWare Technologies, Inc., has teamed up with LignUp Corporation.

BorderWare is a company dedicated to Internet security, and LignUp is global provider of IP communication solutions.

By integrating SIPassure VoIP Security Gateway (News - Alert), a BorderWare product, into its Communications Application Server, LineUp has plans to corner a large share of the growing VoIP market. This LignUp-BorderWare solution offers several benefits to customers who have been using LignUp’s SOA-based VoIP server and VoIP Web
services to voice-enable their business applications, Web services, and portals.

Providing extensive protection and privacy, the service is equipped to give LignUp users secure access to its voice-enabled applications and Web services.

BorderWare CEO Tim Leisman, referring to the drive behind this collaboration said in a statement, “We are seeing a broader adoption of VoIP that is beginning to parallel the earlier growth of email and the Web. Combining technologies and expertise with LignUp will help to accelerate the growth of VoIP, empowering businesses and service providers to grow their profitability and customer loyalty through a new generation of trusted, easy to manage VoIP-based services.”

LineUp subscribers, constituting of enterprises and service providers, benefit from the insertion of the security gateway service into LineUp’s network. Technically enhanced LineUp servers will be able to offer a solitary source to the customers through which they should be able to construct and deploy VoIP-enabled applications throughout the network. Cost effectiveness and security assurance render uniqueness to this product.

Under the terms of the deal, BorderWare’s application-layer security is to be implanted into LineUp’s software, which is based on the Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP). Consequently, LineUp’s clients will be able to implement the new integrated product, either as an on-premise or hosted solution.

In order to render audio functions to various web-based applications, portals, and processes, the developers need a combination of services. The LignUp Communications Applications Server and the LignUp Communications Web services provides the same to them.

Enumerating the benefits of this integrated service, the founder, president, and COO of LignUp Corporation, Kevin Nethercott, said in a statement, “More businesses, from traditional to Web 2.0, are recognizing the value of giving voice to Web applications and Web portals in order to increase productivity and create a superior customer experience.”

Nethercott added: “BorderWare is a strategic partner, not only in providing unsurpassed VoIP security, but also in extending the benefits of VoIP-based services to a growing community of remote users whether they're connected by dial-up, cable, or WiMAX.”

The LineUp-BorderWare solution is structured to provide high-class security as compared to the packet-layer security devices. Guarding the network against SPIT (Spam over Internet Telephony), Denial of Service (DoS), unauthorized registration and other types of VoIP attacks, it ensures good quality secured deployment of the IP services.

Cashing upon BorderWare’s network-agnostic features, the service providers will be able to share the benefits of VoIP-enabled, secured business procedures with their distant workforce, supply chain partners and other certified users, irrespective of the manner they connect to the network

A result of BorderWare’s years of hard work and research, SIPassure is founded along the lines of its expert threat detection and prevention technology and provides security to a host of VoIP based applications. Another key feature of this service is the fact that it is an amalgamation of vital characteristics of three technologies: the Session Border Control (SBC), the Application Layer Gateway (ALG) and the SIP/VoIP Firewall.

Due to this combination the SIPassure facilitates the VoIP traffic to navigate through the network of the service provider securely whilst safeguarding its infrastructure against all exterior threats.

On one hand, BorderWare’s SIPassure facilitates and renders a security shield to the SIP-based convergence applications, such as VoIP, video, and IM, while on the other the LignUp Communications Application Server permits its clientele to yield quick revenues implying well-situated, synchronized communications and competent business procedures. A profitable deal for all, this service will soon change the way the world connects.
