DTC Selects Fujitsu for Hosted Element Management System

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

DTC Communications, a telephone cooperative serving rural areas of Tennessee, has reportedly selected  Fujitsu Network Communications’ new NETSMART 1500 Hosted Element Management System service to manage and monitor their 20-plus network elements.

Officials at DTC said their companies provides telephone, wireless and video service, as well as advanced broadband communications, to their customers. DTC said that they choose NETSMART 1500 software to monitor their network efficiently using a cost-effective solution for their network size, without increasing staff overhead and workload.

“Purchasing the Hosted EMS service was the right choice,” said Jerry Strait, network/TCC supervisor at DTC. “We can have our entire network monitored by NETSMART 1500 software without having to actually purchase the software or server. We think the service is great, and it makes our jobs easier.”

Officials at Fujitsu (News - Alert) said that, the new NETSMART 1500 solution empowers service providers to reduce operating expenses by reducing the time and complexity associated with day-to-day operational and maintenance tasks. This can be achieved using features such as end-to-end circuit provisioning, real time fault isolation and resolution, and upgrading the network equipment software to the latest available release.

This new service from Fujitsu offers network monitoring for service providers in a hosted environment, providing robust functionality and delivering the benefits of a network Element Management System without the need for software, servers or server support staff.

“As part of our growing managed services portfolio, the Fujitsu Hosted EMS service offers the power of the NETSMART 1500 EMS to a whole new set of Fujitsu customers,” said Greg Manganello (News - Alert), vice president of services at Fujitsu Network Communications. “For the first time, our customers can affordably manage networks of all sizes with our NETSMART 1500 EMS without having to manage an associated IT infrastructure.”

NETSMART 1500 software is hosted in Richardson (News - Alert), Texas, at the Fujitsu’s Network Operations Center, running on a dedicated server with redundancy in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Hosted EMS service offers Fujitsu customers access to the NETSMART 1500 application as a client, and provides the customer with full fault, performance and management control.
