By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
VIA (News - Alert) Technologies and Systemax Manufacturing have announced the new Systemax PC model, a highly energy efficient PC for the US market, powered by the 1.5GHz VIA C7-D desktop processor.
The Systemax PC is based on the low power VIA pc2500 mainboard and features the VIA C7-D processor, with a maximum power of just 20 watts, and the VIA CN700 digital media chipset with the VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor. The new model fully addresses the need to run high performance desktop applications while enabling U.S. businesses, schools and homes to reduce their electricity usage. This significantly lowers their power bills.
“We are excited to join forces with Systemax to further extend our reach in the US market,” said Brian Sam, sales director for the US and Latin America, VIA Technologies in a statement.
Sam continued: “The VIA pc2500 mainboard allows Systemax to stay ahead of the game and enter new territories, combining leading edge solutions with ultra low power consumption in highly affordable desktop PCs.”
According to Tammy Thompson, vice president of Systemax Manufacturing, more and more businesses and consumers in the US are looking for reliable, energy efficient computing solutions, without having to compromise on performance.
Thompson believes with the new Systemax PC model Venture VE they have hit the sweet spot, lowering the power consumption and total cost of ownership while providing good performance and rock-solid, reliable systems.
The new Systemax PC model is currently available in two SKUs, one with Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows XP Home at $299.99, and the other with Microsoft Windows XP Professional at $399.99.
