India's Videocon Telecommunications Selects Acision

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Videocon Telecommunications Limited, the newest entrant in the Indian mobile market, has selected Acision's mobile data solutions in order to provide quality mobile services to users in the region.

Acision (News - Alert), a major player in mobile data, will help Videocon to offer messaging, mobile broadband and charging solutions, enabling the operator to quickly grow its market share.

In the run up to its launch, Videocon will rollout a range of rich mobile messaging, mobile broadband, advanced voicemail, prepaid data charging and mobile marketing services.

Officials with Acision said that these services will be powered by a broad range of the company's mobile data products, all part of Acision's data services architecture and broadband mobility suite.

Company officials said that with this integrated mobile data solution, Videocon can develop highly personalized and differentiated mobile service offerings that will support the newcomer in building a sustainable growth strategy.

'This investment represents our commitment to the Indian market as a serious contender in providing the most advanced mobile data services, delivering superior value to our subscribers", said S. Krishnan, group CTO & CIO of Videocon Telecommunications Limited, in a statement.

Krishnan said that through the partnership with Acision, the company has access to the broadest range of world-class communications solutions.

He said Acision has the proven experience and expertise to enable Videocon to bring innovative services to full mass-market adoption.

Atanu Choudhury, vice president & general manager of Acision in India, said that India is a highly competitive mobile market where incremental voice traffic only has a marginal impact on revenues.

Choudhury said that Videocon Mobile Services, supported by Acision, will aim to encourage data consumption by responding to market demands with dynamic services that enhance the user experience, while also controlling its total cost of ownership and ensuring profitability.

"Acision looks forward to supporting Videocon as it establishes itself as an innovative player in the Indian mobile market,' he said.
