Location-Based Services to be Discussed at APPCON 2010

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

APPCON has announced that Chicago-based NAVTEQ's technical consultant, Michael Moore, will be highlighting APPCON 2010's location-based services developer track.

A veteran of the IT industry, Moore - in his career spanning 20 years -- has provided his Mobile App operating systems, complex implementation and deployment expertise to a wide range of devices and carriers and in support of private and governmental entities in the UK, Germany, India and Australia.

NAVTEQ (News - Alert) officials said that Moore heads up a growing group of presenters that will discuss the technical and developmental aspects of location-based services of the Mobile App realm.

Other presenters include Derek Smith, Chicago-based SimpleGeo.com engineer, and a representative from SkyHookWireless, Boston. According to APPCON, all presenters have a solid understanding of the importance of location-based services and their usage and impact within the cascading mobile App marketplace.

"The continued development and roll-out of smartphones with location-based services is a must given consumer demand," said Bryan A. Scott, president at Taptopia.

Susan Schwartz, president at ConvExx, said that her company will continue to add mobile App experts and evangelists to this three-day gathering of global App developers and aficionados, which is a "truly unique" showcase for technical and business expertise in the space.

APPCON 2010 is a mobile App-centric developer and business conference and expo, scheduled to be held from August 24 to 26 in Las Vegas. The event is dedicated exclusively to mobile Apps across all major platforms and carriers and provides an opportunity for developers to dive deep into current technologies and platforms to meet the tactical mobile needs of businesses and brands.

Earlier this month, APPCON announced that experts in the mobile App arena from around the world have signed on to lead the "cutting-edge curriculum" taking shape for APPCON 2010.
