BrightCom Intros ClearView Desktop Video Conferencing Solution

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BrightCom, a provider of integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions, has announced the release of the new ClearView Desktop Video Conferencing solution.

The latest release is designed to let desktop users easily connect to BrightCom’s Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Room and Mobile Cart Video Conferencing solutions, in addition to SIP-enabled video conferencing systems.

“We are very excited to be launching the new ClearView Desktop,” Bob McCandless, CEO of BrightCom, said in a statement. “As we extend our range of telepresence and video conferencing products, we always keep in mind our solutions’ ease of use. These solutions allow anyone in a business to push the big green button on the BrightCom remote to connect to whomever and wherever they want instantly. Our desktop line is a perfect way to connect from a personal home or business office.”

Powered by BrightCom’s Visual Collaboration System – a network-based, software driven conferencing infrastructure that delivers video, audio and a full set of Web conferencing capabilities – the new desktop conferencing solution is designed to satisfy a full range of collaboration needs.

Desktop meeting participants are able to log into the VCS online meeting environment and then connect to other desktops, conference rooms and telepresence suites throughout the world.

“Several of our customers have also found that this new bundle is a great way for reaching out to their customers, personalizing the bundle and providing a new channel for customer service,” McCandless said. “This has helped many of them gain a stronger competitive edge in their respective industries.”

The VCS system can be used by desktop participants to present data in its native format, which allows for the real-time collaboration and markup of information. In addition to multiple data broadcasts, VCS can also display up to 16 video broadcasts with an unlimited number of meeting participants broadcasting from desktop web cams, conference rooms or telepresence suites.

Broadcasts are shown in a multi-screen layout as selected by the meeting moderator and can be automatically adjusted across the desktop monitor or according to the number of screens at the participating endpoint.

The VCS system includes a video conference solution for a home or office desktop; USB-based HD or SD camera; acoustic echo cancellation system with integrated microphone and speaker; hands free audio; compatibility with Windows, Linux or Macintosh; and interactive document, presentation and image sharing.

Performance features of the system include HD or DVD quality video incorporating H.264 and H.263 standards; CD quality audio; integration with BrightCom telepresence and video conferencing solutions and SIP compatible conferencing system; and real-time adjustable bandwidth.

In other BrightCom news, the company was mentioned in the first industry handbook on inter-company telepresence and videoconferencing.“The Inter-Company Telepresence and Video Conferencing Handbook” is designed to inform executives, chief information officers, managers and telepresence and videoconferencing professionals regarding the challenges, opportunities and solutions inter-company telepresence and videoconferencing offers partners, vendors and customers.
