First Orion Launches PrivacyStar Application for BlackBerry Smartphones

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

First Orion (News - Alert), a company delivering network-based privacy and preference service to wireline, wireless, VoIP users and smartphones, has reportedly announced the availability of the PrivacyStar application for BlackBerry (News - Alert) smartphones, which allows users to report potential telemarketing violations, block unwanted calls, identify unknown numbers and more.

PrivacyStar will be available via other smartphones and telephone carriers early next year.

PrivacyStar is reportedly simple to use and powerful privacy application that helps users to take complete control of their phones by reporting potential telemarketing violators to regulatory enforcement authorities, blocking any and all unwanted callers, using Caller Lookup to identify unknown callers and providing the flexibility to change privacy preferences directly on the BlackBerry or on their own synchronized personal web portal account.

Additionally, the company claims that its new PrivacyStar application is the first and only mobile privacy application that helps authorities identify and locate potential telemarketing violators. It is said to capture detailed information about possible violations including date, time, number and identity and allow the user to provide this information to law enforcement authorities for investigation.

“While federal and state Do Not Call programs have been successful, we believe that millions of unwanted calls and telemarketing violations occur each day in the United States,” said Jeff Stalnaker, president of First Orion. “A major contributor to this problem is the inability to identify and quickly shut down violators. PrivacyStar not only empowers callers to immediately decide who can no longer call them, it also provides regulatory agencies with new capabilities to identify and shut down the worst violators. Another very popular feature offered by PrivacyStar is the Caller Lookup feature that allows users to find the name associated with a phone number with a simple keystroke.”

PrivacyStar app allows users to easily view all their information and make any changes through the application or through a personal web portal. The web portal is fully integrated and synchronized with the device and any changes made through either the portal or the device is automatically synched with the other.

As a promotional offer, the newly launched PrivacyStar application is available for free for the first 30 days after which customers can download the application for $2.99 per month.
