Polycom to Show Off Benefits of Interactive Telepresence

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

In conjunction with the New York and New Jersey Executives Club, Polycom (News - Alert) executives this week are presenting an interactive session to discuss the top trends in the telepresence space.

The event, titled "The Top Trends in Telepresence (News - Alert)," will also feature leading industry executives sharing examples of how Polycom and other enterprises are leveraging telepresence to benefit the bottom line, empower collaboration among employees and lower carbon footprint, according to organizers.

The event will be held at Polycom's new Executive Briefing Center in Manhattan on March 5, 2009.

Polycom is a leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions that deploys its platforms around the globe; from classrooms to boardrooms the company has been expanding its RealPresence Experience (RPX).

In fact, the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company’s RPX is the industry's only high definition immersive telepresence solution, and by providing symmetrical telepresence across the globe with features such as high definition video, voice and content-sharing capabilities.

As TMCnet recently reported, Georgetown University has deployed the solution as a way of keeping connected with the Washington D.C. school’s Qatar campus. Students separated by more than 7,000 miles of ocean and land are now able to interact and collaborate with each other and faculty as if they were in the same room.

The telepresence solutions eliminate the barriers of working across distance through immersive, life-like visual communications, enabling people to collaborate face to face with coworkers, customers and partners in different locations as effectively and productively as if they were in the same room.

The telepresence solutions are based on open standards and work seamlessly with the full range of Polycom visual communications solutions from the desktop to immersive telepresence suite, allowing organizations to connect their entire knowledge network. The standards-based solutions integrate with the unified communication networks that customers have today, and interoperate at the highest possible quality with standards-based video conferencing s

Michael Kourey, chief financial officer at Polycom, and Glenn Noga, CIO at Polycom, will share examples of how Polycom and other enterprises are leveraging telepresence to their benefit.

In addition, Zach Lemelle, vice president of  IT with Johnson & Johnson and a NYEXEC Board Member, will be on hand to discuss his view of top telepresence trends in today's global markets.
