PAETEC Expands it Wholesale VoIP Origination ProductBy Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor PAETEC (News - Alert) Holding has announced a major expansion of the company's wholesale voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) Origination product. The company said that it has increased VoIP Origination geographic coverage by more than 100 percent.
This coverage expansion is expected to provide the service in more than 3,300 rate centres nationwide. Using VoIP Origination, VoIP service providers can enter new markets by providing local telephone numbers to clients at their home, business or a remote location.
Also, IP-based enterprises such as call centers and conferencing providers can use VoIP Origination to assign local telephone numbers to their clients.
The VoIP Origination product supports Nomadic E-911, local number portability (LNP), toll-free services, and directory assistance. In addition, an XML interface facilitates deployment, turn-up and ongoing management. Officials said that all combine to reduce overhead for PAETEC's wholesale and resale customers.
Additionally, real-time utilities include LNP submission, and E-911 and Direct Inward Dialing (DID) provisioning, while the Web-based utilities add support for usage reporting and trouble ticketing.
“While there are many choices for VoIP origination providers, the keys to success are coverage, speed of turn-up, support tools and available ancillary services,” said Doug Derstine, president for Wholesale Markets at PAETEC, in a statement.
“We are renowned for focusing on customer needs, and for this product, we've met those needs by including the ancillary tools and utilities that make life easier for our customers. This truly distinguishes PAETEC's VoIP Origination product from others on the market,” he added.
The new product is part of PAETEC's Wholesale VoIP service suite, which also provides outbound termination, equipment colocation, and diverse Interconnect options utilizing Dedicated T-1, Aggregated DS-1, Aggregated MPLS, or Public IP.
Earlier this month, the company announced the unification of the PAETEC and former McLeodUSA data networks. The achievement means that PAETEC now operates an integrated data network across the company's national footprint.
