M-Dot Network Bridges the Gap between Mobile Providers and RetailersBy Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor At the recent Mobile Marketing Forum held in New York City, Bill Catania, CEO of M-Dot Network stated 'The final mile is being built right now.'
Catania believes that technologies are rising to bridge the gap between mobile coupon providers and retailers. Though traditional retailers have been very apprehensive of integrating mobile couponing into their marketing mix, new services like digital incentive networks are all set to support it. In the past retailers have many a times experienced difficulties as their Point of Sale infrastructure was not completely developed in order to support the redemption of digital or mobile coupons. Resulting in the slowing down of the mobile couponing industry, and facing problems like the need for manual integration with loyalty card programs, the incapability in validation of offers in real time, fraud, delays and confusion at checkout. In a release Catania said 'M-Dot Network will release the industry's very first Point of Sale (POS) base code integrations in July 2010, via two of the leading POS companies. The M-Dot Network is a critical new set of 'rails' for retailers that offer a complete pathway from promotion issuance to redemption, audit and fulfillment of digital offers.' The application is flawlessly integrated on POS base code; hence the retailers do not have to create any custom code or integration points at all. M-Dot Network facilitates the successful implementation of mobile coupon programs right from targeting, content creation and delivery to the redemption, settlement and analytics of coupons at the point of sale. A safe real-time transaction network connecting Mobile and Internet based applications to retail Point of Sale (POS) systems is offered by M-Dot Network and it is known as 'the final mile' in closing the loop for digital promotions. Catania strongly believes that the new network will also synergize with shopper card and loyalty programs. Jeffrey Toewe the EVP of Content at M-Dot Network said 'The entire mobile industry has been extremely limited in its ability to offer truly scalable, redeemable mobile coupons because of POS limitations; we offer the first truly integrated, POS-vendor-supported digital couponing solution. For retailers and marketers alike, this is a significant development.' |
