D2, Sequans Provide Turnkey Solution for 4G CPE Equipment: Mobile Unified Communications Report

D2 Technologies' vPort Gateway - with embedded VoIP software -- now supports WiMAX (News - Alert) chipset solution of Sequans Communications, the company announced earlier this week.

 

OEMs and ODMs can enjoy the benefits of a faster and more cost-effective solution to design and develop WiMAX 4G residential gateways, routers and other CPE with communication capabilities for broad VoIP and IP.

 

This has been made possible thanks to the enhancement D2 Technologies (News - Alert) has implemented in vPort-GW to support SQN1210 WiMAX SoC chipset of Sequans Communications.

 

SQN1210 is a system-on-chip (SoC) from Sequans Communications (News - Alert), a solution for mobile WiMAX and is considered to be the highest level of integration achieved in the WiMAX industry so far. It delivers based band and triple-band RF in a single die to achieve a higher level of performance with reduced power consumption in smaller size. The combined solution that is made available to the industry can help develop ultra high speed internet access with carrier grade VoIP functionality.

 

This solution is available as a demonstration during COMPUTEX 30 Taipei from June 1-5, 2010 at the Taipei International Convention Center in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1.

 

Georges Karams, Sequans CEO stated that their partnership with D2 Technologies can help customers to develop a variety of VoIP-enabled CPE with lower cost as the risks are reduced and the time to market can be brought down substantially.

 

The coverage provided by SQN1210 has improved dramatically and the throughput is greater than 40Mbps due to dual uplink technology with closed loop diversity. Advanced VoIP functionality from vPort has voice quality assurance technology that can be used to achieve rich voice features with minimal memory and CPU impact.

 

Hence the joint D2-Sequans solution is able to reduce power consumption for all the three WiMAX bands, 2.3, 2.5 and 3.5GHz. This is confirmed by Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer of D2 Technologies who stated that this is an unbeatable solution for advanced routers and gateways.
