Savvis Picks NetQoS for Network Performance Monitoring Service

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Savvis, a global provider of outsourced, managed computing and network infrastructure for IT applications has picked NetQoS as the foundation of their new network visibility service.

Through this service, Savvis aims to provide Savvis Global Network Solutions (News - Alert) customers with insight into traffic composition, network utilisation, and application performance assurance on Savvis’ MPLS-enabled Application Transport Services.

Dennis Brouwer, Savvis vice president of Global Network Solutions noted that their enterprise customers are focusing on their core business activities, and are attempting to reconcile the apparent conflict between outsourcing critical infrastructure, while retaining the application visibility and control they’ve come to expect over the years.

By working very closely with NetQoS (News - Alert), Savvis has designed a solution that meets the customer demand for visibility into performance of critical applications and infrastructure usage. The solution also enables a broader range of enterprise and commercial companies to utilise their solutions and optimise their business models through targeted outsourcing, he noted.

The network traffic analysis and infrastructure performance monitoring modules of the NetQoS Performance Center product suite helped Savvis to build the Savvis Application Transport Service (ATS) Performance Analyst offering. NetQoS officials believe that the embedded NetQoS technologies will help Savvis Global Network Solutions customers understand the levels of service they are receiving.

NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer will show Savvis customers the composition of traffic across the network and NetQoS NetVoyant will provide them with reports detailing performance metrics such as jitter, loss, and latency for applications that are sensitive to delay across the infrastructure.

Brouwer explained that Savvis MPLS-enabled Application Transport Services are foundational to every solution they take to market. Keeping that in mind they picked the NetQoS products as they scale to their global infrastructure and allow them to provide the visibility into performance information that customers are demanding, without having to add software or hardware at the customer sites.

Savvis’ new network visibility service will enable their customers to stream-line their IT operations while closely monitoring and ensuring application performance, he added.
