Report: Europe is Adopting Mobile Services the Fastest

ABI Research, a market research firm focused on the impact of emerging technologies on global consumer and business markets, reportedly has launched a new report, “European Business Mobility Vertical Market Analysis.”

 

According to the firm, Europe is showing the highest adoption of mobile services at 121 percent penetration, and the figure expected to rise to 135 percent by 2012. The overall service revenue growth through the handset is expected to decline due to these high penetrations.

 

ABI also expects the average revenue per user to continue increasing among business users and forecasts the overall business revenue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of more than 4 percent. The ARPU from consumer mobile services has been predicted to remain at a CAGR of 0.1 percent.

 

Practice director Dan Shey (News - Alert) said that data services are providing the ARPU uplift thanks to the popularity of smartphones, and adoption and usage of mobile e-mail and Internet services. Because the impact of these drivers as well as others is different for business customers in different occupational segments, businesses are noticing a unique set of subscriber and ARPU growth rates, penetration, and total revenue opportunity by occupation.

 

Emphasizing the need of focusing resources on the right business user segments in the current economic environment, Shey said that mobile suppliers should understand the opportunities specific to each business subsegment to stay solvent in 2009. By gaining insight into this matter, they will be able to position themselves for growth in better times.
