TelcoBridges and VSC Enhance PhilCom's Telecom Platform
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Philippine Global Communications (PhilCom) is expanding the capacity and flexibility of its telecommunications services by using VSC's VS3000 eXpress Media Gateway ( News - Alert) solution, which is based on TelcoBridges award-winning hardware platform.
In order to address the need of their growing subscribers and to expand PhilCom's "Voice Connect Plus" VoIP service, the company decided to deploy a new solution that could integrate its legacy equipment with a more efficient means to carry IP traffic.
VSC, a solution developer with extensive experience implementing IP-based solutions for Next Generation Networks ( News - Alert) and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) architectures was chosen by PhilCom to provide the VS3000 eXpress Media Gateway, which utilizes the TelcoBridges' Tmedia TMP6400 hardware.
The additional flexibility of the new solution provides PhilCom with direct connectivity to IP traffic (H.323 or SIP) from TDM networks (SS7, ISDN, CAS, STM1, DS3, E1/T1/J1). The solution also enhances overall capacity, and reduces the power requirement required to keep the system operational on a 24 x 7 basis.
Jose Francis B ( News - Alert). Acantilado, CFO of PhilCom said in a statement that they picked the VS3000 eXpress Media Gateway after extensive testing to replace their existing softswitch. The VS3000 eXpress helps them grow their business, by providing a new level of flexibility to address their customer’s needs, and it also features a price-to-performance ratio that improves their bottom line.
Ivan Wong, CEO of VSC said that their company is pleased to be chosen by Philcom to replace their existing softswitch and expand their international services with their VS3000 eXpress Media Gateway. He noted that their media gateway’s rich feature set -- combined with TelcoBridges' ( News - Alert) Tmedia TMP6400 -- offers a highly cost effective, reliable and flexible solution for Philcom.
Gaetan Campeau, president of TelcoBridges pointed out that Philippine Global Communications has joined the impressive list of operators throughout Asia who are running their systems on TelcoBridges solutions.
According to Campeau, Philippine Global Communications, like China Mobile ( News - Alert), KTF, and SKTelecom, have extensive needs for scalable, highly-availability and energy-efficient systems to support its continuously expanding user-base. He said that these companies have evaluated all of the telecom platforms in the industry, and have each selected TelcoBridges, because of their performance and their value.
“We're thrilled to work with Philippines Global Communications through our partner VSC, and we look forward to a long and successful relationship together,” he added.
