Report: Femtocell Management and Integration Market to Realize $360 Million by 2013
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
ABI Research’s ( News - Alert) new report, “Femtocell Network Management and Integration,” shows that companies providing device and service management solutions for femtocell networks will realize $360 million in revenue within this market by 2013.
The network management and integration vendors should provide several critical functions including performance management, remote configuration, security provisioning, timing, traffic routing and management, update management, access control and authentication, and accounting.
ABI predicts that the situation will be simplified significantly thanks to an increasing adoption of industry standards such as TR-069 and IEE1588V.2, as well as innovative use of GPS and TV signals.
Stuart Carlaw, vice president and research director, explained in a statement that due to the evolution of market in terms of RFP activity and trials, it is has become increasingly clear that real differentiation is swinging more to how the integration and management of the femtocell network is being facilitated.
According to Carlaw, it is clear that security and timing solutions are growing in importance. He added that a femtocell is a very exposed network element that can be an entry point for malicious attack and timing in a heavily distributed network is challenging, and could cause catastrophic disruption. Carriers and vendors must address these issues in conjunction with more traditional management tasks.
The report from ABI Research outlines the critical considerations for a network management solution and provides a forecast for network management and control revenues.
