Sony has morphed an optical mouse and a VoIP phone into one creative product that acts as a fully-functional Internet phone. The VAIO Mouse Talk product is a multi-functional mouse that flips open to become a VoIP phone, enabling users to make and receive high quality calls.

 

Designed to control desk clutter while also adding style and enhanced functionality to workspaces, the VAIO Mouse Talk looks and functions like a typical mouse. However, the product opens up to reveal a clamshell-style phone for VoIP conversations. It is available in several colors and is contoured to fit comfortably in a user’s hand or pressed against an ear. With this unique hybrid product there is no need to use an additional handset to take advantage of VoIP.

 

The mouse component of the product operates like a regular optical mouse, offering a scroll wheel that enables users to navigate documents and web pages without using an on-screen scroll bar. The mouse is ideal for mobile professionals, and works great on most services. It offers 800 dpi resolution and is ideal for those who require pinpoint accuracy, and is Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows XP compatible.

 

The VoIP phone portion of the VAIO Mouse Talk offers echo-cancellation technology and clear call quality. The phone is fully functional when connected via USB to any notebook or desktop capable of making Internet-based phone calls. The mouse wheel may be used to mute a conversation, to raise and lower volume or to select numbers to dial. Blue LED lights flash to indicate an incoming call, and the product may also be set to ring if desired. It can also be left open and used as a speakerphone for those who prefer hands-free conversations.
