Samsung Brings Mobile Phones with Customizable Interface to the U.S.

Samsung (News - Alert) Mobile has announced that mobile phones with TouchWiz user interface will soon be available in the U.S.

 

The TouchWiz is a customizable interface and has specially designed widgets to customize and personalize the way the phone is used. The bright and colorful icons provide a one-touch access point to a user’s favorite and most commonly used applications and features.

 

Samsung Telecommunications America is a Dallas-based subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. which researches, develops and markets wireless handsets and telecommunications products throughout North America.

 

"TouchWiz is all about customizing your phone to make it look and work just the way you want it to. The fun and exciting possibilities with TouchWiz include one-touch access to your photos, instant message conversations, music library and much more," said Bill Ogle, chief marketing officer for Samsung Mobile.

 

TouchWiz phones will also have access to carrier specific widgets which can be used for easy access to carrier’s custom services. Web, Music player, Messaging, Instant Messaging, Bluetooth, Games, Calendar, Clock, Alarm Clock, Navigation Services, Account info, Search are some of the standard widgets that will be included in the TouchWiz phones.

 

The phones also come with a Widget tray that allows users to drag and drop their preferred widget onto the phone’s home screen for instant access to their favorite functions.

 

The TouchWiz phones house a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED Flash. It features the "auto smile shot" as seen in some newer Samsung digicams. Samsung TouchWiz also comes equipped with face detection, image stabilizer, CMOS video lens, and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) – features.

 

For connectivity, the Samsung TouchWiz features GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA (7.2mbps) networks and functions on GSM 900/1800/1900, and WCDMA 2100 bands. The phone is equipped with 240MB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 8GB via the microSD memory card slot.

 

Samsung Mobile expects to launch several full touchscreen devices with TouchWiz technology in late 2008 and early 2009.
