Conference Phone Users Cut Travel Costs with Video Conferencing

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

Companies with overseas offices looking for a way to slice travel costs are increasingly exploring new technologies to keep their businesses operating. And conference phones are a cost effective solution to help solve that challenge.

As organizations expand and the need to communicate with international clients increases, more and more firms are swapping their sky high travel budgets for the lower cost option of deploying advanced conference phone solutions like video conferencing systems and telepresence instead.

“Conferencing equipment, especially video conferencing systems, is a boon to [the] business world,” Telcom & Data officials said.

Video conferencing systems eliminate the barrier that large distances once posed for companies and their partners to meet. For one, the technology cuts travel cost and time. It also helps businesses conduct live meetings with partners, clients and colleagues from around the world, the company said.

For example, Polycom, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based provider of telepresence, video, and voice solutions, offers a variety of  video conferencing options. The company can configure a video conferencing system for companies of all sizes and budgets. Its newest entry, the Polycom (News - Alert) VSX 5000, is well-suited for smaller conference spaces. The solution offers top-quality audio with Polycom StereoSurround delivering crisp natural sound, as well as outstanding video quality.

Meanwhile, the Polycom VSX 7000e is a split video conferencing solution for medium to large-sized conference rooms. The system works best where businesses need to have a camera and video system separated.

Video conferencing isn’t the only business solution helping companies save money.  VoIP Phones, too, are also useful,  Telcom & Data said. The devices let users chat with friends or colleagues sitting at distant location using a fast Internet connection and a VoIP Phone.

VoIP phones are gaining ground, Telcom & Data officials said, because they are cheaper than landline connections and they are easy to maintain. The technology is well suited for sizeable offices, retail merchants and people who often travel from office to office.

“A business must have all these communication equipments to compete,” Telcom & Data said. “The use of conferencing products cuts travel time thereby increases productivity. A business equipped with these equipments has greater chances to succeed.”
