Navteq Offers Innovative Mapping Solutions for Major Navigation Systems

Navteq, a global provider of map information for automotive navigation systems, mobile navigation devices, Internet-based mapping applications, and government and business solutions, is showcasing a broad range of mapping solutions and devices at this week’s 2009 Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) held in Barcelona.

Some of the technology solutions demonstrated include brand name devices and navigation systems powered by Navteq Discover Cities and the latest mobile navigation offerings from five major mobile navigation players.

Navteq Discover Cities provides navigation outside the cars. The technology, according to Navteq, extends the power of the Navteq map with pedestrian-relevant attributes like walkways, pathways, crosswalks, tunnels and other features necessary to optimize routing through pedestrian thoroughfares.

It also provides public transit information, with which navigation systems can deliver a variety of route options to users including routes entirely on foot, or portions of routes that involve public transit.

Navteq Discover Cities is featured in popular navigation applications from Navitime, Nokia, Networks in Motion, Samsung (News - Alert) and Senda.

Navteq Traffic is a navigation solution that provides three types of critical traffic information – planned incidents, unplanned incidents and flow – compiled from multiple sources and delivered in one feed.

The Dynamic Points of Interest (POI) Content includes data feeds that bring the map to life with relevant and real-time information for end users. Navteq's dynamic POI content portfolio will include air travel status, and in North America, fuel prices and movie/event listings, the company said.

Navteq LocationPoint Advertising is a new mobile location-based advertising service that offers location-aware applications and devises a turnkey approach for subsidizing high value content services. With this service, advertisers can reach and engage consumers where and when they are making shopping and purchasing decisions. They can also proactively promote their locations with interactive targeting of consumers in the vicinity of their storefronts.

Navteq MapTP Location Portal Solution is a white-label geo-spatial Web portal solution, which provides access to rich and dynamic Navteq content through a Web interface. The solution incorporates route planning, truly interactive/fast mapping, content integration and search. Navteq MapTP Location Portal Solution is an Internet-centric solution with the ability to integrate with connected mobile devices.

Navteq Network for Developers is a dynamic online web portal and functional tool that provides companies with technical and business support that enables application development.
