Oberthur to Demo Mobile Security and Identity Solutions at MWC


Oberthur Technologies, a provider of digital security technologies, will demonstrate some of its new innovations at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona from February 25th to 28th.

The company’s security and identification solutions and services are based on smart card technologies which are used in telecom, banking and identity fields.

Oberthur will demo a remote SIM and subscription manager for the automotive industry. This is a machine-to-machine technology which will help manage mobile network operators’ subscriptions remotely and securely.

The architecture used here is based on SIM which allows a full download of the mobile network operator’s profile, remotely. It features a subscription manager that can manage subscriptions and remote SIM cards.

The innovation to be showcased will enhance mobile shopping experiences. The solutions include NFC devices, wallet management and TSM and mobile money platforms that will enable futuristic mobile secure services.

Oberthur Technologies will demonstrate the NFC SIM card that is capable of enabling speed, security and convenience. Speed is provided by the ‘NFC Turbo Engine’ based on hardware acceleration and software optimization, while security is delivered by solutions that comply with certifications like EAL4+ and an integrated anti-virus. Convenience is enabled by applications like MIFARE DESFire and contactless payment, said officials.

Embedded Secure Elements that will be demonstrated by Oberthur include the PEARL 800k Classic, a multi-application embedded secure element offering Global Platform 2.2 and JavaCard 3.0 specifications. The PEARL 800k Classic is featured in the Google Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet.

The company will be demonstrating the capabilities of the LTE (News - Alert) network and the Smart Kiosk and Smart Enrolment solutions besides these technologies, added officials.

In related news, Nigerian telecommunications networks and mobile money operators will be testing near field communication (NFC) technology to exchange information and conduct financial transactions with their mobile phones at the Mobile World Congress. Oberthur Technologies started deploying NFC technology to customers in 15 countries throughout Africa.
