Bivio Networks Opens its Application Library

Bivio Networks (News - Alert) has launched its “Application Library” which will provide users with one-click access and implementation of open source networking applications on the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform.

 

Bivio Networks provides networking systems for deep packet inspection networking applications and services.

 

Government agencies, service providers and commercial enterprise IT and security managers are demanding means to leverage third party and open source applications within their networks as they believe that rapid deployment of such applications on high performance platforms reduces overall IT costs while delivering state of the art network monitoring, analysis and security solutions.

 

Bivio claims that with its Application Library they have offered IT managers, instant access to market leading open source apps certified on the Bivio 7000 DPI Applications Platforms. They have completely automated the implementation process and shattered the myth that high performance networking and open source packet processing applications are incompatible.

 

Officials say that DPI Application Platforms, the Bivio 7000 Series, are a family of compact, extremely high-performance, and fully programmable network appliances that combine a unique packet processing hardware architecture with a software platform that includes a standard Linux-based execution environment and a comprehensive set of networking features.

 

Some of the initial set of apps that are available to the users at free of cost from the library are: Arpwatch, nProbe, SiLK, TCPdump, Barnyard, nTop, SNORT and YAF. Bivio says that with each application they have included an RPM package of the software files, documents and configuration files native to the open source software as well as application profiles and initialization scripts to simplify and ease implementation. All the apps are certified to perform at throughput speeds of up to 10 Gbps on the Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platform.

 

Application Library packages are immediately available at the company’s site. As a value-added service, Bivio can also pre-install the open source applications on new orders for Bivio 7000 DPI Application Platforms.

 

Bivio had also unveiled the Application Services Gateway (News - Alert).
