The new enhancements will give users telephone and fax integrated with e-mail, contacts, calendar and task information. The combination of Open-Xchange (hosted and on-premise editions) with Unified Communications (News - Alert) and Virtual PBX solutions will enable companies to get rid of traditional phone lines and hence save a lot on phone bills.
The new software release will also incorporate presence and distant messaging services which will enable users to communicate in real-time anywhere and at any time, emphasized company sources.
Open-Xchange 4PSA VoipNow Bundle will be available for both Open-Xchange Server and Open-Xchange Hosting Edition.
This is possible owing to a partnership between Open-Xchange and 4PSA, an innovative software supplier specialized in Unified Communications, VoIP delivery solutions, business and operations automation.
Company officials said the companies will soon add instant messaging services and “presence” which offers the ability for users to see the current status of other phone extensions.
Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange said, “The combination of our business-class email and collaboration with IP-based telephony, fax and other services provides users unmatched ease of use for their day-to-day communications.”
Laguna also said the enhancements made to the user interface and the addition of Google (News - Alert) Calendar integration will provide users with a very competitive open-source alternative.
