Verizon Puts Focus on SMB VoIP

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

While the business world continues to navigate through the rough economy, small businesses are depending more and more on technologies to stay ahead.

In light of this, Verizon (News - Alert) Communications announced today, 3 new VoIP packages through their Global Wholesale division.

According to officials with Verizon, the new VoIP Internet packages make it possible to offer SMBs the support they need as VoIP usage grows and as demand increases for high-speed Internet connections.

Quintin Lew, senior vice president of marketing for Verizon Global Wholesale said, “By creating new VoIP and Internet packages that include both services and hardware, we're giving our wholesale customers new ways to support their small- and medium-sized business customers in a time when every nickel and every efficiency counts toward success.'

'Small businesses need their carriers to go beyond a one-size-fits-all solution,' Lew said. 'These Internet offers cover the key speeds and features that growing small and medium-sized enterprises require solving modern connection issues and engaging the world in new and aggressive ways,' Lew said.

One new package, the “SIP Gateway (News - Alert) Service” offers global wholesale customers the ability to provide SMBs with a “quick and easy way to get into the VoIP world.” The offering transports VoIP traffic between packet-based IP networks and the PSTN.

Also, the “Dedicated T1” service that Verizon is offering brings together a discounted service and hardware so 30 or more users can have the high-capacity connection necessary for high-volume email usage, large file transferring and Web hosting.

The third promotional offer is targeted at SMBs that, company officials say have, “a larger appetite for Internet access” and includes Internet access with an Ethernet connection at either 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps. This service package is targeted at businesses looking to consolidate voice, video and key business applications onto a converged IP network.
