Sennheiser Rolls Out Two New Headsets for VoIP Communications

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

Sennheiser Communications has reportedly rolled out two new headsets designed for VoIP communications.

The company claims its new PC 11 is a lightweight headset ideal for making VoIP calls over the Internet using a laptop with softphone. It can be adjusted quickly and easily using one hand and its compact size means the user can store it in a handbag or pocket when it’s not in use.

The new PC 100 is a “3-in-1 Headset 2 Go.” It combines an ultra-light in-ear design with excellent sound quality and is suitable for VoIP calls, listening to music or gaming. The company claims it is ideal for MP3 players, laptops or desktop PCs.

Both headsets offer the excellent sound quality and comfort that Sennheiser is known for. They use Sennheiser’s “hi-fi technology,” which means they deliver sound quality one would normally only expect from a much larger headset.

The PC 11 features a high-performance, omni-directional microphone that is sensitive enough to pick up “every nuance” of one’s voice. This will be of special interest to people who use high definition VoIP services.

The PC 100 features an in-line microphone which “ensures every word is easily understood when you make calls over the net,” the company said in a release.

Sennheiser claims the PC 11 and PC 100 are comfortable enough for hours of use. The PC 11's flexible on-ear design is designed for users on the go. Its ear-hooks let users wear the headset on either the right or left ear. Meanwhile the PC 100's soft foam ear cushions let users listen to music, chat or game for hours in total comfort. The compact, in-ear design is ideal for travelers who prefer discreet internet telephony.

Both of these plug-and-play headsets come with two 3.5mm plugs -- one for the headphone and the other for the microphone jacks.

Interestingly, a search for these two models on the company’s website did not reveal any additional information.

Sennheiser made news earlier this week when it announced a new line of home audio headphones for music, TV, and home theatre based on Kleer’s wireless audio technology.
