Taiwanese manufacturer KYE Systems won some distinction for its Genius brand at the recent Consumer Electronics Show. The company’s wireless desktop combo package, dubbed Genius SlimStart 820, snagged a CES ( News - Alert) Innovation 2007 award for its eco-friendly features.
The SlimStart 820 combo includes a solar-powered, wireless keyboard and a power-saving, laser mouse. The keyboard features 17 hotkeys and backup power via USB cable and batteries.
The SlimStart mouse is an ergonomic, laser pointing device with adjustable dpi resolution for enhanced accuracy and range of up to 10 meters (roughly 33 feet). Thanks to built-in power saving technology, the mouse can run continuously for up to 15 hours. A power switch is also built in to save battery life when the mouse is not in use.
KYE Systems country manager in India, Sandeep Ramani, commented in a statement that winning a CES award bolsters the company’s mission to address end-user needs.
“I am confident that more and more people will start adopting Genius products as it can bring maximum value-add to their work,” Ramani said in KYE’s announcement about the award. “I think it is one of its kind products that complies with the green protection concept.”
The SlimStart 820 desktop combo will be available soon in India through Genius distributors Transtek Infoways Pvt. Ltd. and Tirupati Enterprises. The package is priced at Rs. 7500 (about $170).
Earlier this month, Genius launched its Navigator 380 VoIP Mouse, designed to help users integrate mouse and Internet phone functions. Bundled software supports up to six instant message clients—including Skype ( News - Alert), MSN, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, and AIM—to be combined into a single window.
The Genius Navigator 380 VoIP Mouse also features seven phone-function buttons.
