Dell (News - Alert)'Oro Group recently announced it commenced coverage on the Wireless Packet Core market which tracks GGSN, SGSN and PDSN equipment used in mobile networks to transmit data traffic.
Tam Dell'Oro, founder of Dell'Oro Group said, "We've been watching the Wireless Packet Core market develop over the last two years, and are pleased to officially begin quarterly reporting on this market. Wireless Packet Core is the third mobile infrastructure program that we've launched in the past two months and further illustrates our commitment to mobile infrastructure market research that began with our reporting on RAN and MSC (News - Alert) segments in 2001."
According to the report, with growth coming from all three market segments, the market revenues raised roughly to 30 percent in 2009.
Also, GGSN and PDSN sessions have shown the way to the market's shipment growth, with each rising around 60 percent all through 2009.
Greg Collins, vice president at Dell'Oro Group also said, "While bandwidth capacity is often cited as the most critical wireless packet core issue, signaling capacity is also vital and will become more so with the increased penetration of smartphones. Therefore, we expect that the signaling intensive SGSN and MME markets will continue to rise along with bandwidth-intensive gateway products.”
