Alert) Inc. has announced that their AT&T Internet Services are not only accessible while on the go, but citywide as well.
AT&T Metro Wi-Fi
citywide Wi-Fi Access service offers the ability to access Internet services publicly, for consumer and business users as well as provides a network for municipal public safety.
The Metro Wi-Fi mesh, wireless broadband internet is being offered across a 3-square-mile portion of Riverside, with build out planned for the future and represents "the nation's largest Wi-Fi deployment for both municipal and public use," a news release noted.
The company's relationship with MetroFi, provider of free wireless Internet access, is providing customers with free ad-based Internet services. AT&T customers can chose a one day pass for $7.99 or a one week pass for $15.99 to access the Wi-Fi services.
"The Wife network is the perfect blend of high speed public safety communications, cost-effective secured government communications, and wireless broadband for consumers and business. Additionally the network provides a free wireless broadband service that is stepping stone in our digital inclusion program working to give Internet access to all residences in Riverside," commented Steve Reneker, chief information officer of the city of Riverside in a statement to the press.
Municipal uses of the Metro Wi-Fi are being tested to for example to utilize the network to run video from police patrol cars. The city of Riverside is also using the Metro Wi-Fi capabilities from AT&T to test such things as traffic monitoring and coordination as well as to provide video surveillance.
