Boingo Wireless and Amsterdam-based Wjoy have signed a roaming agreement that adds one of the fastest-growing WiFi
networks in The Netherlands to the Boingo Roaming System.
Boingo boasts an existing network of nearly 600 business-related hot spots in the Netherlands, including Amsterdam International Airport - Schiphol, and the country’s four national airports.
Wjoy launched its network in early 2005 with plans to make wireless Internet access ubiquitous. The company aimed to blanket the country with more than 500 locations by the end of 2006.
According to Luis Serrano, director of EMEA and LATAM for Boingo, the diversity of locations in the Wjoy network are a great complement to the Boingo Roaming
System.
Serrano believes that this diversity will help set the stage for expanded applications and network uses throughout The Netherlands for both the business traveler and users of next-generation WiFi (

,” said Marco Vis, managing director of Wjoy in a
press release.
“Working with Boingo is a big step forward to making our network available to the largest possible user base,” he concluded.
Boingo combines over 60,000 locations from more than 140 leading WiFi operators into one worldwide network. With a single Boingo account, users can connect to any of these locations account using Boingo’s free WiFi client software, which combines more than 660 network names into one “Boingo Wireless” network to simplify identifying and connecting to commercial WiFi networks.
