iSkoot has introduced the iSkootDuo solution that enables dual-mode phones, supporting GSM/CDMA and WiFi (News - Alert) networks, to connect to a variety of VoIP services. The Java-based thin client phone application and network server offer connectivity to services like Skype (News - Alert), GoogleTalk, AIM, Microsoft (News - Alert) Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.

iSkoot’s technology enables VoIP over three different network connections, WiFi, 3G/GPRS data and GSM/CDMA. The application is approximately 100 KB and uses standard resources available on a phone so that a wide variety of devices, including low power CPUs, can utilize the application. Dual-mode phones using iSkootDuo enable users to make phone calls over IP using all three types of networks. WiFi is typically available free, while 3G/GPRS data connectivity is offered for a fixed monthly charge and GSM/CEDMA voice is billed by the local minute.
