Seeking to provide guests sailing aboard their luxury cruise ships with comfort and services that make their travels more pleasing, SeaMobile Enterprises, a provider of at-sea wireless voice and data communications services announced they would provide Holland America Line of cruise ships with wireless services.

 

As per their agreement, SeaMobile will provide guests and staff aboard the cruise ships with access their IP/Software based proprietary solution. This provides the comfort of  using their own cell phones and data and voice services, and eliminates the need to purchase extra services or equipment just to stay in touch while at sea.

 

Users are able to use any type of wireless phone or PDA to access the network and are able to utilize the services provided by their wireless home carrier, so they are charged accordingly on their monthly bill.

 

This is their largest contract to date for SeaMobile, who will begin installing the wireless broadband equipment for the cruise lines 13 ships later this year.

 

For further enjoyment, travelers aboard their ships are also provided with satellite connectivity for the management of internet cafes, already in place thanks to technology from Maritime Telecommunications Network, a SeaMobile company.

 

Commenting on the recently announced agreement, Stein Kruse, president and chief executive officer of Holland America said in a statement to the press, "This is a result of our commitment to providing the best comfort and amenities for guests aboard our 13 luxury ships. We chose SeaMobile Enterprises, to provide simple-to-use, superb communication services for our ships, because we know how important it is for our guests to have the ability to stay connected with family, friends, and business associates while at sea."
