Service Delivery Platform Market to Hit $4.6 billion by 2014

As companies and users recognize the inherent benefits of service delivery platforms, the market is set to experience high grow rates.
Focusing on these trends, Infonetics Research has released the first edition of its 2010 Service Delivery Platform Software and Services report.
A service delivery platform consists of components that offer service delivery architecture - such as service creation, session control and protocols - for a type of service and requires integration of telecom and IT capabilities as well as the creation of services beyond technology and network boundaries.
According to the report, the service delivery platform “SDP” services and software market will grow to $4.6 billion in 2014. Also, SDP purchases are increasingly being made on a global basis with Oracle (News - Alert) remaining the worldwide revenue leader in the SDP software segment.
“Mobile operators are feeling the pressure to roll out their app stores over the next 12 months, and they're increasingly looking at service delivery platforms to manage the complexity associated with these third-party content ecosystems,” said Shira Levine, directing analyst for next gen OSS and policy at Infonetics Research (News - Alert).
“This is an opportunity for SDP suppliers, particularly those SDP services companies that are able to provide turnkey solutions on a hosted basis,' Levine said.
Infonetics also recently released its 4Q09 Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers and IMS Equipment and Subscribers market share and forecast reports which note the IMS market is likely to continue to be lumpy on a quarterly basis, but positive momentum is expected from new deployments from North American cable operators.
