Mobile Analytics Company Apsalar Raises Funds

Mobile analytics start-up company Apsalar is reporting this week that it has raised $5 million in a funding round led by Thomasvest Ventures. In addition to mobile analytics, the San Francisco-based company, which was founded last year, offers solutions for behavioral targeting and optimization solutions for iOS and Android (News - Alert) app developers and publishers.



Battery Ventures, DN Capital and other existing investors such as 500 Startups and Founder’s Co-op also participated in the round, TechCrunch is reporting this morning. This isn't Apsalar's first round of funding, though it's certainly the largest. To date, and including this round, the company has raised $5.8 million in funding.

Apsalar offers tools (three so far: ApTimizer, ApScience and ApFeedback) designed to help app developers and publishers better understand how the apps they build are being are used. With Apsalar's self-service SDK or API, developers can identify and deliver personalized content and offers to users.

In other news, Apsalar is also announcing that it has hired Anton Commissaris, a founding member of Mint.com’s executive team, to become what the company is calling “Chief Revenue Officer.” Commissaris became Director of Revenue and Business Development at Intuit’s (News - Alert) Consumer Group after the acquisition of Mint.com. Apsalar says he will now be responsible for driving that company’s sales and business development activities.

In other personnel news, Don Butler, managing director at Thomvest Ventures, has joined Apsalar’s board of directors.
