Vidyo Shows Off New Room System and Better Pricing at Interop

At Interop Las Vegas, happening this week, Vidyo (News - Alert), a provider of HD videoconferencing, will demonstrate its newly announced  VidyoRoom HD-50. With this new room-based video solution, the company will offer users a much more cost efficient way to hold conferencing sessions. Priced at $1,995, the VidyoRoom HD-50 offers up to 720p resolution and is easy to configure and use.

This new solution can be used to connect conference participants to a “telepresence-like HD room conference session” from wherever they’re located and offers support for voice-activated and presence layouts - so workers have another way to communicate that fits naturally into their work day.

With the offering, it’s also possible for conference participants to use dual monitors and display participants on one screen and applications on the other.

"Vidyo has once again shaken up the status quo in the videoconferencing world," said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO. "Up until now a videoconferencing endpoint capable of encoding HD video for under $2,000 was unheard of. In addition, it can be deployed on a DSL or cable modem Internet connection, making it Opex as well as Capex-friendly."

In addition to this announcement, the company also introduced a new pricing structure for its HD videoconferencing ports today. As per this announcement, the company is changing the way it delivers its video conferencing systems to end-users by offering their HD videoconferencing ports for only $1000 a year.

After the year is over, the company is allowing customers to decide whether or not they need HD, and for no additional cost, will provide them with an annual license for standard definition (SD) conferencing.

"We strongly believe that after experiencing HD videoconferencing for a year, customers will be convinced that using anything less is unsatisfying," said Ofer Shapiro, CEO of Vidyo. "Most people have experienced SD quality only and are hesitant to buy expensive HD MCU ports for all desktop users. Many traditional conferencing purchases are SD. These purchases will become 'boat anchor' hardware when the customer chooses to move up to HD. Leveraging our technology advantage, we are allowing everyone to experience the HD benefit, risk free."
