By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
Faronics (News - Alert), a provider of software products that manage, simplify, and secure IT environments, has announced the release of Power Save 2.0.
With Power Save, IT has better control over network systems and can more easily achieve energy management.
The new offering was introduced during Interop’s (News - Alert) Energy Camp and provides computer energy management that is non-disruptive to IT and end-users and analyzes CPU
, disk, keyboard, mouse, and application activity, before taking action.

The new offering not only provides enterprise-wide tracking and reporting for organizations, but also helps them to reduce computer power consumption.
According to the company, Power Save provides organizations with a savings of $25 per computer, per year, for every computer deployed.
The latest release includes Windows Vista support, a new enterprise console, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
"We're excited that Faronics is offering solutions to climate change with Power Save at Interop's Energy Camp," said Lenny Heymann, General Manager for Interop. "Interop is happy to have companies such as Faronics take an active role in Energy Camp, where IT professionals and solution providers are coming together to make green IT happen."
According to the company, the new Power Save 2.0 offering is their first product to be controlled on an enterprise-level by their new Core Console, which has resulted in "enhanced reporting capabilities powered by SQL Express, advanced Wake-On-LAN
support, the ability to run on 64-bit computer systems, and a standardized Microsoft (News - Alert) User Interface that IT administrators are already familiar with."
