Consilium Launches UniHealth Unified Communications Solution for Healthcare Industry

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Consilium Software reportedly launched UniHealth, an element of its UNITM suite of solutions to transform business processes.

The company is a unified communications software company, which specializes in solutions for enterprises and contact centers. UniHealth is a unified communications solution for healthcare. It combines voice, collaboration and multimedia capabilities for improving patient service and leverage the full capabilities of human resources which are expensive.

Company officials said that the solution can be readily applied to telemedicine applications in which medical information is transferred by telephone, the Internet or 3G video networks for consulting purposes.

UniHealth will help healthcare organizations to deliver patient service at lesser operating costs besides reducing medical errors and implement the concept of connected hospitals, connected clinics and connected patients across the world.

Healthcare providers have to employ Information and Communication Technology solutions into healthcare business processes. The company’s UniHealth allows unified communications linking communication capabilities and computers so that data can be exchanged without people traveling from one place to another.

The solutions also streamline the way patients can contact the hospital and how medical officers and doctors access patient information. Customer service is also enhanced at less costs with self-service applications, video and non-voice contact options which allows patients to get information in the way they choose. Medical officer’s can use real-time communication tools to team up with other doctors and nurses using rich presence, instant messaging, audio-video-Web conferencing and application sharing.

UniHealth integrates with other SIP-based applications and avoids vendor lock-in, complicated upgrades and maintenance costs. SIP helps telecommunication providers to leverage the capabilities of open systems. The solution will support clients’ existing PBX (News - Alert) switching technology thereby protecting investments in telephony made by healthcare providers.

“The promise of Unified Communications (News - Alert) is to reduce human latency in business processes by enabling multichannel modes of communication,” said Pramod Ratwani, president and executive chairman of Consilium Software, in a statement. “In an industry where the ability to respond quickly and reach the right person at the right time is crucial, Unified Communications represents an unprecedented opportunity to streamline communication processes in order to improve the quality of patient care. With UniHealth physicians, nurses, staff and patients can have secure, anytime access to the information they need, and to each other.”

Consilium Software is a UC software company which allows unified success in enterprises and contact centers. Its customers will be able to improve communication flows, transform business processes ad increase business efficiency.
