TELUS Selects Accordent and TANDBERG Solution for Video Conferencing Archival

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

TELUS, a Canadian telecommunications services provider, has selected the integrated online communication solution jointly developed by Accordent and TANDBERG as part of an outsourced visual communications network for a major Canadian utility.

Accordent Technologies provides enterprise-wide rich media communications solutions that enable world-class organizations to inform, train and engage their audiences online. TANDBERG is a provider of telepresence, high-definition video conferencing and mobile video products and services with dual headquarters in New York and Norway.

The integrated solution which combines the power of TANDBERG's telepresence and high-definition video conferencing products and the Accordent Media Management System (AMMS) enables clients to lower the cost of meetings and training sessions by archiving video conferences in a searchable, online streaming portal that viewers can access at any time and from anywhere.

Rick Snyder (News - Alert), president, TANDBERG Americas stated that his company’s clients need to do more than push video across the network; they are looking for a way to extract business intelligence from their communications programs to clearly correlate the investments they have made in telepresence, video conferencing and streaming infrastructure with improvements in productivity, operational efficiency and market share.

This joint solution allows clients to record video calls, presentations and training sessions created with TANDBERG products and centrally manage, catalog and secure these online media assets with the AMMS. Clients can also track and report on how their viewers are consuming the online video communications and correlate that viewing with action.

TELUS (News - Alert) clients can make use of the integrated solution to find out precisely about viewers interest in a particular content, info on how long that content has been watched, their workgroup or geographic origin, and audience responses to surveys and tests, as well as critical network performance data. The data collected can be used to chart out plans to enhance the quality of the content offered.

Accordent and TANDBERG will provide TELUS with two redundant AMMS installations that will be integrated with the client's LDAP to secure and control content access via viewer login privileges. Additionally, the solution leverages the TCS for creating streaming archives from video conferences, the Accordent Capture Station for automated event capture and publishing, and Accordent PresenterPLUS for re-publishing video assets into the Accordent rich media format to enable viewer tracking through the AMMS.

TANDBERG was designated as the Asia Pacific video conferencing vendor of the year by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) and Accordent Technologies was honored by the editorial staff of Streaming Media Magazine as one of ten stand-out products for the streaming media industry in 2007.
