Allot Unveils NetEnforcer AC-5000 10 Gbps Network Traffic Management SolutionBy Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor Allot (News - Alert) Communications, provider of intelligent IP service optimization and bandwidth management solutions based on deep packet inspection, or “DPI,” has added a 10 gigabit per second, or “Gbps,” network traffic management solution, titled “AC-5000,” to its NetEnforcer family of band-width management devices.
Offering 10 Gbps traffic management in a compact 3U format, Allot NetEnforcer AC-5000 is specially designed for high-end enterprise networks.
Chris Fenlon, CEO of Layer 3 Technologies, said that due to the decreasing costs of 10 GE infrastructure and the continuous popularity of bandwidth intensive applications, the company is seeing that high performance traffic management is more and more a”'must-have,” particularly in markets such as education.
The NetEnforcer family of bandwidth management devices offers granular visibility and dynamic control, which help network operators to optimize the delivery, performance and profitability of WAN and broadband services.
Allot NetEnforcer AC-5000 also improves network control via granular visibility and carrier class network optimization. Hundreds of Internet protocols and applications are identified precisely, in order to get network-wide granular application visibility.
Apart from being compatible with either 1GE and 10GE network infrastructure, Allot NetEnforcer AC-5000 also provides increased quality of experience for enterprise users.
"High-end enterprise networks share all the complexities of both traditional enterprise networks and service provider networks, servicing multiple types of users and running multiple types of applications," Andrei Elefant, VP of marketing and product management at Allot, said.
Already available commercially, NetEnforcer AC-5000 is specifically designed to answer high-end enterprise network’s requirement for greater throughput, interfaces and features. At the same time it provides reliably high performance levels and superior user quality of experience, Elefant said.
Moreover, NetEnforcer AC-5000 has fast and accurate troubleshooting and capacity planning. With the help of advanced policy enforcement, it is enabling acceptable usage policy, or “AUP,” as well as prioritization of business critical applications. In addition, the solution’s real-time monitoring and advanced reporting capabilities helps in enabling drill-down to individual user and/or application sessions, company officials said.
All the NetEnforcer devices leverage advanced DPI technology, which combines the functionality of an intrusion detection system, or “IDS,” and an intrusion prevention system with a traditional stateful firewall. With the help of DPI operators can identify, classify, prioritize, as well as shape network traffic per application per user. Jayashree Adkoli is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
