Cricket's MyPerks Brings Discounts to Mobile Devices

Cricket Communications, Inc reportedly has launched Cricket MyPerks, a free service that will provide exciting information, deals and offers to customer on the go. Cricket Communications (News - Alert) provides affordable wireless services to more than 4 million customers.

 

According to Larry Atwell, director of product development at Cricket, the company is always on the lookout for innovative ways to add value to its customers’ wireless experience. Cricket MyPerks provides fun and informative content along with relevant and money saving offers to its customers on the go.

 

The free content provided by Cricket MyPerks will include weather information, movie releases, sports scores, fun facts and trivia. Weather forecasts will be updated daily. Users will also get occasional offers from recognized national and local brands. These brands include big-box retailers, restaurants, sporting events, concert venues and automotive services.

 

At present, offers from brands such as Jack in the Box, 1-800-Flowers, ESPN, Walmart, Dairy Queen, and Jiffy Lube are being provided. Since the objective is to provide customers with the most relevant items, content and offers are customized by location.

 

At first a user must download the Cricket MyPerks application to his mobile. Once complete, content and offers will be automatically delivered to the idle screen when the phone is not in use. The user can either dismiss the banner or click-through to take action. Cricket MyPerks can be downloaded from Cricket’s Games and Apps catalog. It is now available on select Motorola, Samsung, and UTStarcom (News - Alert) handsets.

 

The Cricket MyPerks application will never interrupt device functions like phone calls, text messaging, and mobile Web browsing, company officials say. To re-engage with content and offers that customers might have missed, a Recent Offers Menu is present. Items will remain in the Recent Offers menu for as long as they are active. Another offer from Cricket MyPerks is the Coupon Code. To redeem this offer, a customer will have to take his phone into any participating restaurant and show the cashier the coupon code displayed on the screen. The “Click to Call” function available on Cricket MyPerks will allow the user to directly contact a retailer from the offer received.
