eCopy PaperWorks Plus Combines Paper and Electronic Documents

eCopy has unveiled eCopy PaperWorks Plus, a PC software that enables office workers to convert electronic and paper documents into searchable, secure and editable Portable Document Format (PDF) files. By merging documents directly into business applications and workflows, the software helps organizations eliminate inefficient manual processes.

 

With eCopy PaperWorks Plus, users can create, view, and edit text-based PDF files directly from the print menu of Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows software applications. They can also merge scanned document images and e-faxes with e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing files, presentations and more. This will now be a single, easy-to-manage and -distribute PDF file.

 

It will be achieved by using optical character recognition to convert scanned images into editable text files; avoiding spending time re-typing documents. Also, companies can now allow remote workers to easily access eCopy PaperWorks Plus from anywhere as they will now have simplified application administration through Citrix and Windows Terminal Services.

 

To expedite the filing, retrieval, review, distribution, and sharing of PDF documents, the software is directly integrated with content management, workflow and collaboration systems. Allowing users to store and manage PDF files with these repositories, it comes with direct integration to EMC Documentum Content Server, Interwoven (News - Alert) WorkSite, and Open Text eDOCs DM applications.

 

“Too often productivity is constrained by the variety of electronic document formats needed to accomplish the task-at-hand and the challenges of integrating scanned and e-fax document images into business workflows,” said Michael Orasin, research manager with IDC’s (News - Alert) Document Solutions service. “The result is time and resources are wasted and document integrity is compromised by printing documents for either signatures or edits, and then rescanning to distribute them electronically.”

 

The eCopy PaperWorks Plus also enables users to add signatures without the need to print and re-can documents. They can now avoid illegible, re-scanned documents, and save time and the need to reprint documents by editing scanned documents and e-faxing the images. It also allows them to assign unique identifiers, such as Bates stamps, to PDF files to help organize, track and recall documents.

 

eCopy PaperWorks Plus will start at under $200 and will be available in the first calendar quarter of 2009.
