MTI Intros VoIP Option for Speech Automation Client

By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Speech automation technology provider Message Technologies (MTI) today announced that it added VoIP capability for its clients.

“Anticipating the future, MTI’s large investment in back-end VoIP infrastructure is in direct response to our clients’ needs. Now that VoIP has progressed to being technologically stable and economically advantageous, MTI is pleased to offer our clients this industry-leading option. VoIP presents the benefits of extended functionality, greater outsourcing choices and significant cost savings,” said MTI president Darrell Knight in a statement.

The system offers increased availability and redundancy; redundant power supply on switches; wire speed routing; QoS production support to optimize bandwidth; call compression placing 200 ports on a single box as opposed to 92 ports with TDM; easier integration with existing (CTI) interfaces in customers’ call centers; lower cost call routing back and forth with virtual private network (VPN) tunnels and dedicated data lines - plus no transport fees.

MTI now has a VoIP staging and production platform on both VoiceGenie and Microsoft (News - Alert) to accept incoming calls into the company’s data center, from either a public or private IP network. The company uses SIP Proxy to distribute VoIP calls as well as provide load balancing and data management. MTI previously only accepted TDM calls. In addition, plans to shift MTI’s Disaster Recovery center in Dallas towards a VoIP-compatible environment are in process.

Today’s news follows MTIs launch of AssuredVoice Retail Employment Pre-Assessment Tool for use by retailers and with retail systems providers. The AssuredVoice IVR interface allows a job applicant to access the system via a toll-free number and answer detailed questions with their voice. Candidates can answer generic questions and respond with yes/no/maybe responses by using speech recognition software or touch-tone inputs. Retailers can specify the functionality of the surveys and provide questions that allow candidates to proceed to various levels or disqualify them. The system can also provide a unique candidate or applicant identification number for future IVR system access or use as an identifier at a later interview, thus streamlining the hiring process.
