End Wireless Bill Shock: Attend TEMIA's Expert Panel at ITEXPO East

TMCnet News

The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA), the authoritative voice for the Telecom Expense Management (TEM), Wireless Expense Management (WEM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) supplier community, announced that it is moderating two sessions at ITEXPO (News - Alert), taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Feb. 2 to 4.

The first session on Feb. 2, from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m., will feature experts that will address ways to proactively avoid bill shocks and more in a session titled, 'If charges for wireless service plans keep going down, why does my spending keep rising?'

A survey by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)) in 2010 reveals that 30 million American mobile phone subscribers (1 in 6) have experienced bill shock or an unexpectedly large bill for wireless services. 'TEMIA (News - Alert) members report that mobile bill shock affects companies in all regions including Europe, Asia, Canada, and Latin America, which requires a more proactive approach with TEM, WEM and MDM solutions,' stated Joe Basili, managing director of TEMIA and the session moderator.

'Bill shock is not just a consumer-oriented term anymore. We're hearing from our customers every day that enterprise mobility costs are taking a significant cut out of communications budgets- often in the form of hidden, unforeseen expenses,' said Julie Palen, senior vice president of Mobile Device Management for Tangoe. 'The good news is there are options for organizations grappling with bill shock and looking to get ahead of the curve. I look forward to sharing many of these tactics and strategies during this session.'

'This problem is widespread for our clients with global operations that Latin America, Europe and the U.S, stated Juan Carlos Méndez, vice president of business development, for Xpensert. We are able to remove one of the obstacles to creating better accountability by providing real-time visibility into their own usage costs 24/7, added Méndez.

'Our clients' operations personnel face increasing burden from the rapid adoption of mobility for time-sensitive mission-critical activities throughout the world,' stated Joe Chopek, president of Avalon Global Solutions. 'I look forward to sharing some of the ways that clients are able to realize a 20 percent increase in internal productivity with better policy enforcement, added Chopek.

'Few companies perform the labor-intensive tasks of validation and optimization of wireless expenses,' said Kevin Whitehurst, co-founder and managing partner of mindWireless. 'Automated telecom expense management systems, with controls on enrollment, device procurement, clear wireless usage reporting, and some tips that we will present in the session, enable organizations to reduce expenses and curb spending,' added Whitehurst.

'This session will clearly present the best-practices that enable organizations to understand why wireless expenses keep rising, and it will provide practical suggestions with solutions that capture cost savings which is critical to competing in business today,' said Rich Terhani, TMC (News - Alert) president and ITEXPO conference chairman.
