NEI Introduces New E-4000 R4 Enterprise Communications Platform

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

NEI, a provider of application platforms and lifecycle support services for software developers, OEMs and service providers worldwide, has introduced the E-4000 R4 high-performance enterprise communications platform.

Officials with NEI said that E-4000 R, which is built for next-generation converged communications and telephony applications, offers the industry’s best combination of dual processors, quad-core processing, high availability, scalability and telephony card integration in a 4U footprint.

According to company officials, the system integrates telephony-specific capabilities and validation testing to allow for more rapid time-to-market for high-density applications in a scalable, rack-mountable system.

Company officials said that NEI’s E-4000 R4 is ideal for enterprise communications deployments such as voice mail/messaging, interactive voice response, contact center applications, auto dialing, unified messaging, online data entry/query, and speech-enabled auto attendants.

The platform, company officials said, addresses the complex power and cooling capabilities required to integrate multiple high-end telephony cards.

The E-4000 R4 supports up to five telephony boards, providing capabilities for up to 20 T1/E1 digital network interfaces, 60 analog loop-start points, 300 station tapped lines, or a virtually endless combination of interfaces, loop-start ports, and tapped lines.

Company officials pointed out that the new E-4000 R4 features a quad-core Intel Xeon 5500 processor for high-performance application requirements, and supports up to 96 GB DDR3 memory, six PCIe slots, and redundant hot-swap 800W AC power supplies for maximum reliability.

“NEI’s extensive industry experience and solid understanding of enterprise communications requirements enables us to design best-in-class solutions for our customers,” said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing at NEI, in a statement.

Hudgins said that the new E-4000 R4 extends this commitment by delivering a robust enterprise communications platform that will enable developers to create high quality products while reducing their time to market.

Recently NEI announced that its A-13000 multi-vendor 10G ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) platform achieved NEBS (Network Equipment Building Systems) Level 3 Certification.

This rigorous standard guarantees that equipment intended for use in telecom central office environments has met an extensive set of environmental and safety tests to ensure network performance and reliability under extreme conditions.
