Contingent to Exhibit as Gold Sponsor at Restaurant Technology Conference

By Erin Harrison, Senior Editor

Network installation provider Contingent Network Services is exhibiting as a gold sponsor at the 2010 Multi-Unit Restaurant Technology Conference to be held next month in Las Vegas.

Entering its 15th year, Hospitality Technology’s Multi-Unit Restaurant Technology Conference will bring together more than 200 restaurant technology, finance and operations professionals at Caesars Palace Las Vegas from March 10 to March 12.

The event draws operators and vendors alike, offering networking opportunities through exhibition space, topic tables, dinners and golf. Among the topics to be discussed are: “Intelligent Innovation for Growth and Profitability”; “Decentralization and Above-Property Intelligence”; “PCI (News - Alert) in Franchised Environments”; “Getting Results from Your Social Media Strategy”; “Remote Device Management”; and “Disaster Planning: Data Back-up.”

Contingent is certainly no stranger to restaurant technology. Following a national rollout for Wendy’s restaurants, Contingent announced it also secured a multi-million dollar contract to deploy its EverWorX managed wide area network service at more than 500 Bob Evans locations across the country.

According to company officials, a virtual private broadband network installation to link all Bob Evans restaurants was completed this summer. Bob Evans initiated the deployment to enable the installation of so-called “more robust” store-based Web applications, remote network monitoring and customer high-speed Internet access across its 569 North American locations.

In a recent interview with Russ Maney (News - Alert), principal and co-founder of Xponential Group, a Louisville, Ky.-based technology procurement services company that represents Contingent, said the company expects “big things” in 2010.

“Many of those scheduled deployments that were pushed back in 2009 have been rescheduled for early 2010. In tough times, the break/fix business increases as companies concentrate more on maintaining what they have, versus upgrading what they have or buying new technologies altogether,” Maney said. “When times improve, companies start upgrading what they have and buying new technologies again.”
