E911 Hosted Solutions Podcast: SaaS E911 Model Offers SupportBy Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor When it comes to implementing E911 solutions, companies are choosing Software-as-a-Service solutions for the ease of deployment and ongoing support service providers offer, officials from an Everett, Wash.-based E911 hosted solutions provider, said.
In a recent interview, TMCnet spoke with experts from 911 ETC about the growing interest in E911 services. While the addition of new state laws is one driver for voice communication providers to launch E911 solutions over the IP network, more organizations are deploying Software-as a-Service solutions for E911 because of the additional support they offer.
In a podcast, Bill Svien, executive vice president of 911 ETC, described SaaS (News - Alert) for E911 as a “complete solution.” Because the software resides in the provider’s space, companies quickly realize that they have an entire organization consulting with them on the major components of the implementation, he said. This includes the database build, the telco interface and inter-exchange and the company’s PBX (News - Alert) inter-connection.
In addition, Saas solutions for E911 offer companies ongoing support – a critical component for companies, Svien said. The accuracy and the continuity of the data “needs to be kept up” on an ongoing basis, he explained.
“With another set of eyes… the liability, as well as the responsibility actually shifts dramatically from the end user client to the Software-as-a-Service provider,” Svien said.
