Bell Mobility and IgeaCare Bring to Market eHealth Mobile Solutions

By Eve Sullivan, TMCnet Editor

Bell Mobility and IgeaCare Systems (News - Alert), Inc. are launching the next generation of eHealth mobile solutions to answer the needs of chronic disease management for patients and healthcare providers.

The combination of Bell’s network and IgeaCare’s Healthanywhere intelligent software was announced at the eHealth Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"We recognize that healthcare professionals and citizens require a wide variety of services and the needs of both of these user groups are quite different. At Bell we take care to transmit information securely and efficiently so hospitals and healthcare providers can be more accessible and accountable to Canadians," says Philippe Jetté, vice president of data solutions for Bell Mobility.

IgeaCare is an innovator in the field of intelligent healthcare solutions (eHealth) for patients at home or on the go, according to the company.

The new software can remotely handle chronic disease management by capturing medical information from wireless medical devices and establishing video visits. It automates electronic record of care and tracks patient outcomes, making it possible to implement integration of patient data into an Electronic Health Record.

The Healthanywhere software is delivered securely over the cellular network by way of smartphones such as BlackBerry's (News - Alert), portable tablet PCs, home patient stations, stationary and mobile kiosks.

Telehealth solutions have numerous applications such as screening and diagnosis of medical conditions, daily monitoring of vital signs and medication reminders, secure real-time transfer and access to medical information, and provide an information portal
for families.

"As healthcare becomes more specialized and less hospital-centric, patients are receiving care from an increasing number of providers and at different locations. Patients are also becoming more proactive in managing their health. Bell's offering enables healthcare providers and enterprises to reduce the cost of delivering services with the right mix of technology and hands on care" says Martin Beauclair, senior vice president of sales and business development for IgeaCare Systems Inc.

Bell Canada (News - Alert) is the country’s national leader in communications with 28 million customer connections across the country. The company provides consumers with simple solutions to all of their communications needs, including telephone services, wireless communications, high-speed Internet, digital television and voice over IP.

Bell also offers integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services to businesses and governments, and is the Virtual Chief Information Officer to small and medium businesses.

IgeaCare Systems offers world-class Telehealth and Telemedicine technology and develops and manufactures state-of-the-art telephony-based communication systems, computer telephony integration, interactive voice response and predictive dialing capabilities with a focus on healthcare, public safety, education and retail.
