Sagem Communications Launches the SAGEM FAX ATA 101S

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Sagem Communications and Sagem-Interstar (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of Fax over IP (FoIP) solutions, announced the launch of its new SAGEM FAX ATA 101S.

The SAGEM FAX ATA 101S is a compact device that connects to fax machines such as multifunction peripherals (MFPs), enabling fax communications over an IP network, according to company officials.

Company officials explained that the SAGEM FAX ATA 101S allows customers to continue using their traditional fax equipment and reduce the cost of analog lines, as they transition to a converged IP network environment.

Officials pointed out that by connecting the SAGEM FAX ATA 101S to an MFP, users can reap the advantages of seamless and real-time T.38 Fax over IP (FoIP) communications.

Explaining the benefits, company officials said that device integrates perfectly with any enterprise-class IP network and is compliant with most iPBX gateways and Unified Communications (News - Alert) platforms, supporting such standards as SIP, T.38, and G.711.

In addition, unlike most other ATAs, the SAGEM FAX ATA 101S is specifically designed by Sagem Communications (News - Alert) to handle heavy fax traffic, according to officials.

“The new SAGEM FAX ATA 101S is our innovative response to the needs of enterprises migrating to IP networks. It is the perfect complement to our award-winning XMediusFAX T.38 FoIP server solution,” Jean Champagne, general manager at Sagem-Interstar (News - Alert), said in a statement.

He also said that together with Sagem Communications’ suite of MFPs, these products provide customers with cost-effective solutions, while paving the way to full-featured IP communication environments.

Indicating that the SAGEM FAX ATA 101S delivers huge benefits and cost savings to companies with significant investments in traditional fax devices, he added, “It enables organizations to easily migrate to an infrastructure that involves integrating MFPs with centralized IP fax server solutions such as XMediusFAX T.38 FoIP server software.”
