CRM News for 20 April: Transcom, Sage, Visma, SPSS, Commissure

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

CRM news announced recently:

One year after initial implementation of InStranet’s Contact Centers In-Line, Transcom, a European CRM/call center service provider, has selected InStranet for European-wide roll-out.

After the success of last year’s initial implementation, Transcom will be deploying InStranet’s application throughout its fifty customer service centers, spanning twenty-seven countries, and over fourteen thousand customer service representatives.

Transcom’s initial project with InStranet enabled them to increase agent efficiency and service quality while supporting Tele2’s launch of ADSL service in the Netherlands and Belgium, according to Transcom officials. Transcom then selected Contact Centers In-Line to manage knowledge throughout their pan-European network of contact centers and customer Web self-service.

InfoWorld Daily is reporting that a venture capital firm has trumped an offer by British software company Sage Group for Visma, a business-management software vendor based in Oslo.

Engel Holding, a Norwegian subsidiary of HG Capital, offered on Tuesday about $674 million compared to Sage’s proposed $585 million. In a short statement, Sage said Wednesday it would not top its offer, which expires Thursday.

Sage’s offer was recommended by Vismas board of directors when it was announced last month. But last week, Visma officials said the offer was no longer attractive.

Visma had better-than-expected first quarter results, which may have caused it to spurn Sage’s offer, said David Bradshaw, principal analyst at Ovum. Visma reported revenue of $91.6 million from January through March, up from $73 million for the same period in 2005. Net profit rose to $6.5 million, up from $4.4 million.

Visma, which has around 2,350 employees, specializes in business productivity services such as debt collection and employment. It also produces ERP (enterprise relationship management) and CRM (customer relationship management) software.

The Brazilian publication InvestNews is reporting that SPSS, vendor of data analysis applications, has launched the 10th version of its Clementine system, which is targeted at improving the performance of customer relationship management (CRM) applications, marketing and frauds detection.

In Brazil, companies such as DirecTV, CTBC and Credicard use Clementine to boost the customer relationship process.
