Oberthur Technologies Partners with Zvetco Biometrics

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Oberthur Technologies has announced a partnership with Zvetco Biometrics to provide strong authentication solutions to clients. According to the company, this partnership will integrate Oberthur Technologies ID-One PIV smart-card and Zvetco Biometrics Verifi fingerprint readers.

Zvetco Biometrics’ Verifi line of fingerprint readers are generally recognized as among the most accurate and dependable fingerprint capture devices available anywhere. The P6000 and P6500 are all listed on the GSA (News - Alert) Approved Products List (APL) and have been FBI certified as meeting the rigorous FIPS 201/PIV standard.

By meeting industry standards, Zvetco Biometrics can achieve compatibility with numerous major software solutions in important user authentication segments such as single sign-on, PKI, middleware, SDK, programming languages and others.

“Our partnership with Zvetco Biometrics further extends the benefits of ID-One PIV within companies at several levels: physical and logical access and documents protection through electronic signatures,” said Patrick Hearn, VP ID markets, Americas, Identity Business at Oberthur Technologies.

Specifically created to comply with HSPD-12, ID-One PIV is the Oberthur Technologies smart-card range. Providing authentication, digital signature, fingerprint, Match-On-Card, encryption and post-issuance management capabilities, ID-One PIV is the first fully FIPS-20 compliant smart-card for physical and logical access control.

To make this offer flexible for a corporate market use, some applications like cashless payment can be incorporated.

Recently, the company announced that its Trusted Service Manager (TSM) Platform was selected by Westpac for a new pilot Android (News - Alert) Mobile "NFC" Payment application. Near-Field Communications (NFC) is a new technology that enables the wireless authentication and communication between a mobile handset and any contactless payment terminal. Westpac's Debit cards can be safely pre-personalized into Android handsets fully-equipped with a safe element embedded in the SIM card with the help of Oberthur Technologies' TSM solution.
